Abstract
This article deals with child-parent relationship between fathers and daughters in twoparent and single-parent families where the contact between the father and daughter is limited. The article emphasises the signifi cance of the role of the positive example in relationships between parents and its infl uence on the nature of interpersonal contacts with people of the same and the opposite genders. The article analyses the model of the parent family, the subjective evaluation of the father’s involvement in the upbringing and the type of relationship with him as factors aff ecting the interaction with people of the same and the opposite genders. The authors point out the fact that girls brought up in singlemother families tend to evaluate relations with their fathers as bad saying that he did not take part in their upbringing, the communication with him being very rare. It is established that the frequency of contacts with the father, his participation in the upbringing and the nature of relationship with him are linked to the model of the family. It is shown that girls’ relationships with the same and the opposite genders are infl uenced not only by the family type (two- or single-parent) but also by the evaluation of the relationship with the father.
