In this article it’s proposed an overview of biblical and religious foundations of Christian ecological ethics, which knowledge is necessary for teachers, missionaries and catechists, who appeal to environmental subject in both practical and worldview aspect in their close interaction. The author offers to examine the measure of present raising accusations against Christianity by some philosophers and publicists of “the biblical anthropocentrism” as well as studies worldview motivations underlying orthodox ecological ethics. The guiding principles of Biblical Hermeneutics are involved as a methodological base. Biblical Hermeneutics is a science about the principles of interpretation and understanding of sacred texts, the exegetic heritage of the Holy Fathers, relating to the field of Holy Tradition of Orthodox Church and contemporary conciliar documents and publications as well. It’s also examined the issue about the development of understanding the progress, worldview motivations and goal-setting in the cognition of the surrounding world by the man and interaction with it, in Natural Science fi rst of all, in the close connection with the measure of secularization of European culture and society. The analysis of sources carried out by the author obviously shows that the reason of ecological crisis is not Christian Theology and Christian worldview but on the contrary retreat from spiritual and moral values and establishments preached by the Church or their indifferent declaring, which have nothing in common with the real life in Christ i.e. baneful conversion from Christocentrism to secular anthropocentrism which is usual for the modern society. The practical conclusion from examination of some biblical and religious aspects is the complex of closely interrelated theological and ethical principles of organizing environmentally enlightened and constructive creation, developed within the framework of the traditional Christian paradigm

In the current article it is discussed the tasks of a new course «The natural-scientifi c worldview» within the scope of training of orthodox teachers in primary school at the pedagogical department of Saint Tikhon's Orthodox University of Humanities. It is presented the structure of the subject, its author’s methodological support in the context of demands of the modern Federal state standard of primary general education (2009), «The exemplary main educational program of educational institution» (2013), educational general problems including orthodox pedagogy points of view. It is presented the necessity of organic replenishment of the current course as an abstract and systematic, theological and philosophical, Christian and apologetic element. The present approach to the university education lets help the students of the primary school form the perceptual unity of the universe, as well as the attitude to the scientifi c thinking as to the creation work and service of the Creator in realization of professional activity of an orthodox teacher on the assumption of harmonization of courses «The surrounding world», «Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture» and other subjects.

In the present article it is considered biblical, historical and theological as well as canonical grounds of getting today more widespread practice of particular serving of liturgy for children in parishes of Russia. It is analyzed the demand of this kind of servings in the light of Orthodox pedagogy. It is systematized existing approaches of servings for children at the parish, diocesan and church levels taking into consideration the context of problems of church socialization and family churching in the whole, including problems having reflected in church resolutions and documents. Celebration of Eucharist as the central sacrament of the Church and Divine liturgy taking into consideration child’s perception implies responsiveness of many peculiarities. In view of these facts in the present article it is discussed necessary conditions and positive perspective of systematical development of the practice in Russian Orthodox Church. The author comes to a conclusion of the importance to regulate the forming practice from the direction of Supreme Ecclesiastical Authority.

This article deals with a problem of the harmonious combination of biblical and modern views on the world-universe-oecumene and aims to demonstrate that ignoring the cultural and historical context of the events described (such as the Flood, the settlement of ancient peoples) can lead to a possibility of the crisis of faith. This danger of cognitive dissonance and the crisis of faith is particularly possible if too simplistic an approach to teaching the course “Foundations of the Orthodox Culture” takes place in the secondary school, and to religious education in the Sunday school, as well in other spheres of missionary and catechetical work. In the fi rst hand, it pertains to the study and explanation of the fi rst chapters of the Book of Genesis, which always provoke interest with any readers. However, following the tradition of serious attention to the historical and cultural context, already established by early Christian commentators of the Bible, it is possible to preserve the traditional literal and historical understanding of the meaning of events that took place in the biblical universe-oecumene, to look at them through the eyes of their contemporaries and authoritative Orthodox commentators of divinely inspired texts. Moreover, this approach, namely the cultural-historical and semantic accomodation, forestalls the cognitive dissonance, ideological crisis of faith and marginalization.

This article deals with the emergence and development of parochial spiritual and educational centres in Russia, beginning from large monasteries and parishes, rural folk houses. It identifi es directions of their activities as centres for spiritual and moral education, for making children, young people and the elderly familiar with the Orthodox tradition, church way of life and church milieu through various forms of work. The article proposes a model of operating of a spiritual and educational centre by means of organising liturgical life, missionary, social, educational, youth-oriented and leisurerelated work. It states that all directions of work of a spiritual and educational centre should be family-oriented. Both children and parents can obtain spiritual education in a parallel way, can participate in joint missionary and leisure activities, exercise works of mercy. The article comes to the conclusion that such approach allows us to implement the principle of cooperation between the church, family, school and society with maximal completeness and payoff , to create around the centre a stable Orthodoxoriented community.

As is well known, 2017 marks 100 years since the beginning of persecutions of Orthodox Christians in Russia, 100 years since the inception of the Regional Council of the Russian Church, as well as 80 years since the beginning of a new phase of mass repression in the USSR. This article discusses the theological and apologetic heritage of the prominent public fi gure, educationalist, renowned professor of Moscow Theological Academy Sergey Sergeyevich Glagolev (1865–1937; Russ. Сергей Сергеевич Глаголев), who was a member of the Regional Council of 1917–1918 and was repressed and executed in 1937. Having analysed a range of sources, namely speeches to students, articles in the Theological Bulletin (Богословский вестник) of Moscow Theological Academy as well as other works, this paper aims to demonstrate the signifi cance and relevance of Professor S. Glagolev’s ideas for the fruitful development of Orthodox scientifi c apologetics in the context of the system of religious education and catechism. Glagolev’s apologetic legacy is marked by a harmonious synopsis of scientifi c conceptions, Biblical revelation and the ecclesiastical tradition, which implies the development of relevant apologetic patterns based on this synthesis. The patterns of this synopsis, in their turn, serve the main purpose, namely the building of the integrated Christian worldview in the 21st century.
